A fight between two women in Rhode Island ended with their boyfriends getting into a scuffle and one committing murder, police said.
At the scene, police said they found the victim, 34-year-old Ferdinand Reyes, with a stab wound to his abdomen.
Reyes was taken to the Rhode Island Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, authorities said.
The suspect was identified as 22-year-old Michael J. Alvarado and police saw him fleeing the area. However, he returned to the scene and was taken into custody, police said.
Alvarado was questioned by detectives and he gave them a confession.
Police said the stabbing stemmed from a feud between the girlfriend of the victim and the suspect’s girlfriend. That resulted in Reyes and Alvarado getting into a fight and Reyes getting stabbed in the abdomen.
Alvarado was charged with first-degree murder, police said. He faced his arraignment and was held without bail.
