Ivanna Ortiz, 35, of Florida, the woman accused of firing a semi-automatic rifle at Rihanna’s home, has pleaded not guilty to the charges. Ortiz was arrested on March 8, after she allegedly fired off 20 rounds toward the pop star’s mansion in Los Angeles.

The incident took place around 1:30 p.m. when Rihanna was at home with her partner A$AP Rocky, their three children, her mother and two staff members. The shots also struck an Airstream trailer and a neighboring property.

Rihanna and A$AP Rocky were reportedly inside the trailer when the incident occurred, but nobody was harmed in the shooting. Within an hour, the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) officers tracked down Ortiz during a traffic stop in Sherman Oaks, about three miles from Rihanna’s home.

An AR-15-style rifle was allegedly found inside Ortiz's vehicle and she was taken into custody. During her arrest, she allegedly told the police, “Can I say one sentence? I would like to say that I wasn’t attempting murder. But that’s all I wanted to say.”

Ortiz has been charged with one count of attempted murder, 10 counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm, one count of shooting at an inhabited vehicle and two counts of shooting at an inhabited dwelling.

On March 25, Ortiz appeared before the Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Theresa McGonigle and pleaded not guilty to all the charges. Her bond was initially set at $10.2 million but later reduced to $1.875 million. Ortiz’s lawyer, Los Angeles County Deputy Public Defender Derek Dillman sought to reduce bail down to $70,000, citing financial constraints, but the request was denied.

Los Angeles County Deputy District Attorney Alex Bott said Ortiz’s actions could have led to multiple deaths. He called her a threat to public safety and alleged that she had planned the shooting in advance.

Ivanna Ortiz made several controversial social media remarks against Rihanna.

Ortiz’s next hearing is scheduled for April 8. If convicted, she could face life in prison. Authorities have not disclosed a motive. However, Ortiz’s social media posts suggest she was obsessed with Rihanna and made several controversial remarks against the singer on the internet.

“I don’t like her, and she’s always trying to steal from me. And she has not ever put out any music to reach people. She only put out her little music so she could do witchcraft. And so that she can steal from people. So everybody please stop … don’t listen to her, don’t follow her … because she’s stealing from you,” one of Ortiz’s social media posts allegedly read.

Ortiz, who works as a speech therapist, was also reportedly obsessed with Billie Eilish and had filed a lawsuit seeking to cancel the singer's concert in Orlando.

Meanwhile, Rihanna is said to be shaken by the incident. She told police that she had received threats online before, but they had never turned violent until now.
