An Alabama man was arrested on suspicion he killed his roommate after the man’s body was found in an outbuilding, law enforcement officials said.
Around noon on Nov. 12, a person called the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Office and claimed Daniel Scott Raines, 24, murdered his 61-year-old roommate, Barry Sartain.
Deputies responding to the report spoke with Raines, who alleged Sartain had left their Cottondale residence days earlier and never returned, according to the sheriff’s office.
Raines gave consent for the deputies to search the property, and they located Sartain in the outbuilding.
“Raines later admitted that he had killed Sartain during an altercation,” Tuscaloosa County Violent Crimes Unit Commander Captain Jack Kennedy said.
Raines was charged with murder and booked inot the Tuscaloosa County jail without bond.
