Ever since Savannah Guthrie’s mother, Nancy Guthrie, was abducted from her Catalina Foothills home in Arizona on February 1, questions have been raised about the possible involvement of her sister, Annie Guthrie, and her husband, Tommaso Cioni.

The Today co-host has now addressed the rumors in a recent interview, saying that no one cared for the 84-year-old more than the couple did. “They were there every day for my mom,” Savannah Guthrie said.

Savannah Guthrie mentioned that Nancy’s disappearance has affected her grandkids, especially Annie and Tommaso’s children.

‘The Pain is Unbearable’

In an NBC interview with Hoda Kotb on March 26, Savannah Guthrie said the speculation that someone in her family is responsible is “unbearable”.

“It piles pain upon pain. There are no words. No one took better care of my mom than my sister and brother-in-law. No one protected my mom more than my brother," she said.

The 54-year-old added that it was her brother Cameron, who has military experience, who knew right away Nancy Guthrie was kidnapped for ransom. “Do you think because of me? And he said I’m sorry sweetie, but yeah maybe,” she said.

Details of the Investigation

The television star said it was her sister Annie Guthrie who called her on the unfortunate day to tell her that their mom was missing and that she “was gone.”

Annie Guthrie reportedly said the back doors of Nancy Guthrie's house were propped open, and her phone, purse and all of her belongings were still at the house.

Savannah Guthrie shared that on a good day, her mom could walk down to the mailbox, but some other days she couldn’t, according to an X post by journalist Brian Entin. She added that Nancy Guthrie was taken in her pajamas with no shoes.

She believes the two ransom notes her family responded to are real.

‘Annie and Tommaso Were There Every Day’

Additionally, Savannah mentioned that Nancy Guthrie's disappearance has affected her grandkids, especially Annie and Tommaso’s children.

“There’s just a way this is even so much harder on Annie, and Tommy, and [name of their son] because they’re there. And they were there every day for my mom. They made it possible for her to stay in the house that we grew up in that she loved so much,” Savannah Guthrie said, according to Parade.

Authorities, including the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Pima County Sheriff’s Department, are still hunting for answers, with no proof of life and no suspect identified so far.
