A Kansas teenager is under arrest after she tried to protect the alleged killers of a little boy, authorities claim.

Casandra Sledge, 18, recently was charged with obstruction after she “knowingly provided false statements” to investigators about a vehicle she owns that suspects in the case allegedly were using when they fatally shot 6-year-old Sir'Antonio Brown in Kansas City, KMBC reported, citing police.

A judge ordered Sledge be held on a $40,000 bond.

“There is something seriously wrong with society when an individual will say or do anything to protect the killers of a six-year-old child,” Kansas City Police Chief Karl Oakman said, according to KMBC.

Oakman added, “This can never be accepted in our community or any other place in America. We all need to examine our hearts and understand that this can no longer the norm.”

The investigation is ongoing.
