According to police in Jamestown, around noon on September 13, “two subjects tried to sneakily steal some property from an unlocked car that was parked in the parking lot of a local Jamestown business.”

“The sneakiness was compromised when one of the subjects (who has a unique identifying feature) made a strange verbal announcement inside of the business, capturing the attention of customers inside,” police said of the incident allegedly captured on security camera video footage.

A short time later, individuals noticed the missing property and confronted the pair, later identified as Deven J. Redeye, 26, and Elsie I. Redeye, 19.

One of the two “even left behind some unique identifying personal property to help identify who it was,” police said.

Around 10:00 pm the same evening, officers received a report about two suspicious subjects possibly attempting to steal a car at an area business and caught up with them after they had already left the scene, police said.

Police placed the two — Deven Redeye and Elsie Redeye — under arrest and they were booked at the Jamestown City jail.

Officials said both Deven Redeye and Elsie Redeye face charges related to conspiracy in connection with the first incident and attempted grand larceny from the second incident.
