The victim was last seen on January 27. Two days later a missing person alert was issued by the Riverhead Town Police Department.

On February 11, Harrison’s body was discovered in the woods in Long Island. Her remains were identified four days after the discovery. The authorities said her death was “criminal in nature,” according to report by Patch.com.

Trent was arrested on February 25 from Harrison’s house on Gorge Road Riverbed, roughly five miles east from the site where the body was found. Trent was found at his mother’s house during a sweep of the area, according to authorities. Police also said that the residence where he was arrested was the last location where Harrison was seen alive.

Complete details about the murder have not yet been released by the investigators as the case is ongoing.

Murder

Harrison worked at Riverhead Raceway, the lone auto racing venue on Long Island for 40 years. “Katherine was a part of the fabric of our beloved track, for generations she knew families from the parents to their children and yes, even their grandchildren," the business wrote on its Facebook account. "She would ask them their names, how they were doing, how their family was. She genuinely cared. That's just who she was.”

A fund raiser started by her daughter-in-law reads “She was a loving caring mother and an amazing friend. Her grandchildren meant the world to her and she was the kind of person who would give you a shirt off her back if you needed one.”

Harrison would turn 63 on February 1. Trent was arraigned on the murder charge in Riverhead Town Justice Court immediately after his arrest. The investigation is ongoing.
