A Florida woman dressed in only a hospital gown stole an ambulance from a hospital parking lot and led officers on a chase, officials said.
According to the Port St.Lucie Police Department, on Aug. 30, Marquisa Allen, a 25-year-old Miami woman, was sitting on a bench outside HCA Florida St. Lucie Hospital “when she decided to steal the vehicle as ambulance personnel were inside dropping off a patient.”
Allen fled the parking lot in the ambulance, police said, but she was unaware the vehicle was equipped with a GPS tracker that allowed Florida Highway Patrol officers to locate her on a nearby turnpike.
As the officers closed in on Allen, police said the suspected ambulance thief “exited the ambulance and began to run away but was taken into custody after a short foot pursuit.”
