Schoolgirl Found Guilty Of Stabbing Classmate To Death At Illinois High School

A schoolgirl in Illinois has been found guilty in connection with an attack on classmates that left one dead and another injured.

Kamyjah Bias, 16, faces a minimum of 27 years and up to 90 years behind bars after a judge in Sangamon County convicted her on Feb. 15 for fatally stabbing 18-year-old Pierre Scott Jr. at Lanphier High School in Springfield, WCIA reported.

In April 2022, Bias was charged as an adult with multiple crimes, including three counts of first-degree murder, one count of attempted first-degree murder, three counts of aggravated battery, and two counts of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon.

According to police, in November 2021, Bias fatally knifed the victim and wounded a second 16-year-old student, Daquan R. Dunn, outside their school building.

According to WICS/WRSP, Bias testified in court that she was waiting for her sister the day of the deadly incident when she began speaking with Scott and others.

The defendant claimed she believed a fight was about to break out with the students she didn't know and said she acted in self-defense.

Bias is scheduled to be sentenced on April 19.
