Two people arrested in Arizona in connection to 2017 murder in Maryland

A man and a woman have been arrested in Arizona in connection to a 2017 murder in Maryland, police announced.

Christina Gail Harnish, 45, and Williams Eugene Rice, Jr., 46, were arrested in Arizona for the murder of Megan Leah Tilman, the Anne Arundel County police announced on Jan. 26.

On Oct. 18, 2017, Anne Arundel County police responded to the area of Holly and Chesapeake Drive in Shady Side, Maryland, for what was believed to be human remains.

An extensive search of the shoreline found additional skeletal human remains, according to Anne Arundel police.

The victim’s death was ruled a homicide.

Anne Arundel police learned that the Annapolis Police Department had completed a missing person’s report for Tillman on Nov. 1, 2017.

After testing the remains to family members, police determined that the remains were Tilman’s.

On Jan. 26, 2022, Harnish and Rice were arrested for Tilman’s murder by the Pima Sheriff’s Department in Arizona. Police have not said how they identified the two as suspects or how they knew Tillman.

The suspects are awaiting extradition back to Maryland.
