Ex-elementary student had sex with teen, possessed more than 5K child porn images

An ex-elementary school teacher had sex with one of his former students when she became a teen. The educator also had thousands of other child pornography images on computers when police searched his home. 

Sean David Sigler, 56, was sentenced to 30 years in prison after pleading guilty to two counts of production of child pornography. He was sentenced during a hearing in federal court last week. 

Sigler taught 5th-grade at Bret Harte Elementary in Burbank, California, and Gardner Street Elementary in Hollywood, California, according to prosecutors. 

The victim was in Sigler’s class and he kept in contact as she grew older. He used his position to gain her and her family’s trust.

He drove the victim to his home, where he gave her alcohol and pills, according to prosecutors. 

Sigler then had sex with the victim when she was 15 years old. Sigler created videos of the victim and took sexually explicit photos as well, according to prosecutors.

The teacher also created child pornography by modifying an image of the victim’s body and digitally superimposing the faces of different underage students, prosecutors noted. When police searched his home, they took various digital devices that had more than 5,000 child porn images.
