Teen faces criminal vehicular homicide charges after fatal crash kills 70-year-old woman.

According to court documents obtained by local ABC affiliate KSTP, the teenager was distracted while driving his BMW because he was on his phone. He caused a three-car crash, claiming the life of Linda Davis, 70. The pregnant woman sustained several injuries and had to be rushed into surgery for an emergency delivery. Both the mother and the baby survived.

According to the crash report, Davis was in a Jeep and was about to turn when the teenager rammed her from behind while looking at his phone. The report says, “As [Davis] waited to turn, the BMW drove up behind the Jeep at a high rate of speed, did not slow down, and crashed into the Jeep.”

The other woman, who was pregnant, was in a Ford SUV, which crashed with Davis’ Jeep after it went into oncoming traffic after being struck by the teen’s BMW.

Teen Claims His ‘Brakes Were Slow’ After Fatal Car Crash

While being interviewed, the boy allegedly told investigators that “his brakes are really slow.” He claimed that he could not stop in time due to a failure. However, an examination of his phone contradicted his statement. According to a report by KSTP, authorities said that he was active on an application from 3:20 p.m. to 3:28 p.m., when the crash happened.

According to the same examination, after the crash, the teen allegedly first called his mother and then 911. Although he is 18 now, prosecutors will likely prosecute his case in juvenile court.

Davis’ daughter wrote on Facebook that her mother died at the scene “right in front of our house.” A GoFundMe page for Davis has been set up. It says, “Linda passed away … right outside their home in Champlin."

According to her family, she just celebrated her 70th birthday in November 2025. The GoFundMe page says, “Her sudden passing leaves a huge void. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and an adoring grandma who found her joy in her family.”

“She loved everyone deeply and fully. Her faith was the center of her life, and she faithfully served her church community alongside her husband Bill Davis for 38 years,” it said.
