A man brutally stabbed his parents to death in front of two toddlers. Now, after a statewide manhunt, police say the suspect is in cuffs.
Around 10:15 a.m. on April 18, police in Columbia, Tennessee, were called to a home where they found two people dead. The victims were identified as Christopher Gaines, 56, and Katrina Gaines, 51.
The two were the victims of a “brutal” stabbing, according to police.
Two children —who were 4 and 2 years old — were in the home during the attack but unharmed, according to Columbia police.
Investigators identified the couple’s 27-year-old son, Demondra Gaines, as the suspect in the case. Though, police have not said what caused the man to allegedly murder his parents.
Police asked for help finding Demondra Gaines, and late on April 19 announced he was arrested in Memphis, Tennessee.
Officials charged the suspect with two counts of first-degree murder, two counts of aggravated assault resulting in death and theft of a motor vehicle.
