When officers arrived at the scene, two men approached them and said their roommate had been shot by another resident of the house, WSAZ reported.

Officers found the suspected shooter, later identified as Perry Hughes, 38, inside the house and were able to take him into custody after a short standoff.

Police said they found the body of the victim inside a trash can in Hughes’ bedroom. Paramedics were called and the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators searched the property and found casings inside the kitchen, blood on the hallway walls and baseboards and blood in a swirl pattern on the bathroom floor, WSAZ reported.

When searching Hughes’ bedroom, officers also found three handguns, two of which reportedly were stolen. They also discovered a mop that appeared to have blood on it and a bucket of bloody water in an adjacent room, officials said.

According to witnesses, the roommates were all celebrating another person’s birthday while drinking and playing dominoes. Hughes and the victim became intoxicated and started to argue over $10, and the dispute eventually turned physical, the witnesses claimed to police.
