On Aug. 9, the Carrollton Police Department said Caleb Blake Brown and the baby’s mother, both 17 years old, brought their son to the emergency room at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Plano after the mother noticed “the baby had become pale and had significant bruising around his abdomen.”

The baby was transferred to Children’s Medical Center in Dallas, where he was pronounced dead, according to authorities.

An autopsy was completed on the 24-day-old baby, identified as Emerson Ziesmer, and it determined the infant had multiple displaced ribs and a lacerated liver, officials said.

Investigators believe Brown was mad at the baby’s mother for keeping the baby and he was worried about having to pay child support, authorities said.

When officers spoke with Brown, he told police he was alone with his son on Aug. 9. He said he squeezed him and “repeatedly threw him into the air” and the baby hit the ceiling fan, officials said.

Brown was arrested on Sept. 28 and charged with murder, police said. He is in the Denton County jail and no bond has been set, officials said.
