A Texas news anchor said in a social media video posted this week that a man she met on a dating app and saw for several months was later arrested for the murder of his wife. Kristin Carol, an anchor for FOX 34, said she used the Facebook Dating platform to meet the man nearly three years ago.

Carol said she originally ended the relationship after three dates because the man pressured her for marriage and focused heavily on her becoming a stepmother to his three daughters.

“The language he used was ‘when you’re the girls’ stepmom,” Carol said. She said she believed at the time he was looking for a caretaker rather than a partner.

Revelation Of Arrest

Carol noted she learned about the man’s criminal history 18 months after they stopped dating. A woman who was currently dating the man called Carol to ask if they were still seeing each other.

During a three-hour phone call, the woman asked Carol if she knew about the man’s arrest for murder.

The man had previously told Carol that he was a widower and said his wife died by suicide. According to Carol, the woman on the phone said the police accused the man of shooting his wife during a child custody exchange.

Police investigators believe the man shot his wife and then shot himself in the leg to make the incident look like a struggle or suicide, Carol said. She noted that she had seen two scars on the man’s thighs during their dates, but he refused to explain them.

The man described by Carol as a wealthy oil executive reportedly posted a $100,000 bail following his arrest. Carol said she believes the man was trying to find a new wife quickly to secure a guardian for his children before a potential prison sentence.

Legal Status Of the Case

According to the Mary Sue, Carol said, “He treated me better than anyone else. And he killed his wife. Maybe. Probably did.”

The video has received more than 11,000 views and hundreds of comments from viewers. Many users said the story highlighted the potential dangers of meeting strangers through digital dating applications.

Representatives for the man's legal team did not release any statement regarding the allegations. Local law enforcement officials have not released a statement regarding the current status of the criminal case.
