A Texas 10-Year-Old Girl Witnessed a Man Assaulting Her Mom, Cops Say. So, She Stabbed Him.

A 10-year-old girl in Texas reportedly stabbed a man as he was attacking her mother, according to authorities.

On Aug. 30, deputies responded to an apartment complex in Houston and found a man suffering from a stab wound to his leg, Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said.

Investigators determined a 10-year-old child stepped in and stabbed the man as he was physically assaulting her mother, according to Gonzalez.

Officials did not provide a motive for the reported physical assault on the child’s mother.

The man was transported to a local hospital to be treated for the stab wound and was listed in fair condition, officials said.

No details were given on how either family member knew the man who allegedly attacked the mother.

"Awful situation for a 10-yr-old little girl to have to witness and experience," Gonzalez said of the incident. "Children who witness the abuse of their mothers, fathers, or other family members, are impacted."

Officials noted the case remains under investigation but didn’t disclose if any charges are pending.
