A Texas man has been charged after he allegedly kidnapped a woman and held her for days as he beat and raped her, according to police.
Jabori Lashaun Robinson, 39, was arrested Dec. 21, the day after a woman called 911 and reported she was being held against her will in a house in the 1000 block of Capp Street in Texarkana, Texas, according to the Texarkana Gazette.
The woman said she contacted a friend on Dec. 17, hoping for a ride from Waskom, Texas to Ashdown, Arkansas, according to the probable cause affidavit obtained by the Texarkana Gazette.
Instead of being driven to Ashdown, the woman said she was taken to the house where Robinson was waiting outside, the Texarkana Gazette reported.
The affidavit is not clear about the previous relationship between Robinson and the victim, but it stated the victim feared Robinson because of a previous assault, according to the Texarkana Gazette.
The woman said Robinson took her in the house and beat her for “leaving the last time,” the Texarkana Gazette reported. He also forced her to engage in sex acts.
Robinson allegedly threatened to “sell her to a person who buys women for the purpose of forced prostitution,” and threatened to enlist the help of someone else to harm her children, according to the Texarkana Gazette.
The woman told police she was held in a barricaded room with locked doors and boarded windows, the Texarkana Gazette reported.
She was unable to call 911 until the morning of Dec. 20 when Robinson was distracted by a visitor, according to the Texarkana Gazette.
The woman said the dispatcher told her to set down the phone so her location could be pinged as she managed to squeeze out a side door, the Texarkana Gazette reported.
A woman passing by picked up the victim and police were called for a second time, according to the Texarkana Gazette.
Investigators made contact with Robinson at the house on Dec. 21, the Texarkana Gazette reported.
When police searched the phone, the woman’s wallet was found where she reported leaving it, her belongings were found in Robinson’s room and her cell phone was found in the living room, according to the Texarkana Gazette.
When officers contacted the woman on Dec. 20, she was barefoot, frantic and not wearing a coat or jacket, according to the Texarkana Gazette.
She had a noticeable protruding bump on her forehead, two black eyes and cuts on her lips and nose when she was taken to the hospital by police, the Texarkana Gazette reported.
Robinson has been charged with kidnapping and faces five to 99 years or life in prison if convicted, according to the Texarkana Gazette.
Bail was set at $150,000, the Texarkana Gazette reported.
