A Texas man has been arrested and charged in connection with the murders of his wife and eldest daughter, according to authorities.

Officials said Robert A. Morairity, 45, has been charged with tampering with a corpse, murder and capital murder in the deaths of his wife, 42-year-old Kimberly Kellam, and their 11-year-old daughter, whose name has not been released.

Around 8:30 a.m. on June 12, Kellam’s brother-in-law called 911 to report that he hadn’t seen his sister-in-law and her 11-year-old daughter in several months, officials said.

Wise County Sheriff Lane Akin told WFAA that he “wish they would’ve called us earlier, but they neglected to do that.” He added, “They were all scared to death of this guy, they were afraid to say anything.”

The brother-in-law informed police of where Kellam was living, so deputies went to the home near Decatur. They knocked on the door and walked the property, but no one was around and determined the property had been abandoned, according to authorities.

Investigators determined the daughter had not been enrolled in school since 2022, WFAA reported.

Around 6 p.m. on June 13, investigators found Morairity in Dallas. He had two of his children, ages 3 and 10, with him, police said.

Morairity first told police he had not seen his wife or oldest daughter in six months. He eventually admitted that his wife and daughter were dead and their remains were inside the garage at the home officers checked the previous day.

According to police, Morairity volunteered to go to the home with an investigator and a Texas Ranger. Once at the residence, he pointed out where his wife and daughter’s bodies were located.

Akin told WFAA, "And they had been there for quite some time… probably 5-6 months."

The motive and exactly how they were killed has not been released by officials.

Morairity was arrested and booked into the Wise County jail on a $800,000 bond.

Both the bodies were sent for autopsies and officials said the couple’s other two children were put in Child Protective Services’ custody.
