On Nov. 1, police in Carrollton, Texas, said 29-year-old Joseph Demarcus Warren was driving a Lexus he stole when he “ran a red light at an excessive speed and hit another car lawfully entering the intersection,” according to witnesses.

Authorities said the Lexus was reported stolen about 30 minutes earlier at a party store near Dallas Love Field.

After running the red light, police said Warren hit a vehicle driven by 29-year-old Rohit Khanna, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officials said there were two passengers, both 29-year-old men, in the vehicle with Khanna who were seriously injured. They were rushed to Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Plano, Texas. Both remain patients and one is in critical condition, authorities said.

Warren was also taken to the same hospital, but he was released on Nov. 3. Detectives took him directly to the Carrollton City Jail, authorities said.

He has been charged with murder for “committing an act clearly dangerous to human life during the commission of a felony,” police said.
