On Sept. 26, the Denton Police Department said Isaiah Dre’von Harpe, 22, was shot numerous times in the apartment he shared with 38-year-old Tony Brett Mason.

Later in the evening, investigators said they arrested Mason in Fort Worth, Texas, on an outstanding Denton Police Department warrant for unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon.

During the arrest, a firearm was found in Mason’s possession, officials said.

Mason was taken to the City of Denton Jail. Once there, detectives interviewed him and he provided a full confession to shooting Harpe numerous times after an argument, authorities said.

Mason admitted the gun investigators found during his arrest was the same firearm he used to kill Harpe, police said.

Investigators applied for a murder warrant once the interview was completed and a judge granted it, police said. But, police have not said what led to the argument before the shooting.

Mason remains in the City of Denton Jail on possession of a firearm by a felon and murder charges, according to authorities.
