Police found 34-year-old Joshua Troutte shot to death and 49-year-old Patricia Conlon was arrested, officials said.

Court documents state Conlon’s daughter told authorities she had been in an “ongoing domestic disturbance” with Troutte since December 2021.

Conlon’s daughter told police that Troutte hit her above the eye with a cell phone the day before the shooting, but she never filed a police report, authorities said.

The daughter claimed she told her mother she was ending the relationship with Troutte and she was going to be moving out of the home, KDFW reported.

According to authorities, Conlon said she called 911, but entered Troutte’s home before police arrived.

When speaking with police, Troutte’s roommate said he saw Conlon come into the home with a gun in her hand. He then heard Troutte yell “just shoot me!” before hearing multiple rounds fired, police said.

Conlon told police she had gone to the residence with the intention of holding Troutte at gunpoint until law enforcement officers were able to reach the location since Trout allegedly had a history of fleeing after previous domestic incidents.

The mother claimed Troutte grabbed her arm and pulled her hair, so she shot him in self-defense. Police, however, said evidence did not match the woman's story.

Conlon was arrested and charged with Troutte's murder.

In court documents, police argue against the self-defense claim since Conlon attempted to hold Troutte at gunpoint and the “lack of reasonableness in her action involved in the use of deadly force."

Authorities said Troutte had a long criminal history, including pleading guilty to assault and family violence in 2018.

The case is still under investigation.
