A man upset over a breakup with a girlfriend murdered her new lover, cops say
A man is accused of murdering a teacher in San Antonino, Texas, after the educator started to date his ex, according to police and media reports.
Michael Thomas Wiessing was arrested by San Antonino police on March 24 in connection to a March 10 shooting. Police say Wiessing shot and killed Michael Echaniz.
Officers responded to Gus Eckert Road for a reported shooting and found the 23-year-old shot, according to San Antonino police. He later died from his injuries.
Echaniz was a teacher at Great Hearts Forest Heights, according to KSAT. He was trying to get in his vehicle when he was shot.
A family member of Wiessing contacted police and said he was involved in the killing, according to KSAT. Police stopped Wiessing soon after the shooting, but he was let go due to a lack of evidence.
Investigators later got more details, and he was arrested last week.
Police believe Wiessing’s motive stemmed from Echaniz dating his ex-girlfriend after their breakup, according to KSAT. The relationship ended several months ago.
