A woman’s body was found in the front yard of a home in Edna, Texas, and police say her estranged boyfriend is responsible for the murder.
Around 11 p.m. Oct. 4, police said they went to a home in Edna for a disturbance call.
At the home, officers found an unresponsive 48-year-old woman lying in the front yard. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene from her injuries, according to authorities. The woman's name has not been released.
The Victoria Advocate reported police found indications of blunt force trauma on the woman.
Officials said they discovered 36-year-old Augustine Tristan was the estranged boyfriend of the woman and he became a suspect in the investigation.
Police have not released a possible motive for the killing or what led to charge Tristan.
He was booked into the Jackson County Jail on the morning of Oct. 5 and his bond was set at $500,000, the Victoria Advocate reported.
Tristan has a long list of run-ins with police, as he was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in 2009, assault causing bodily injury in 2020, interfering with an emergency request for assistance in May 2021 and driving while intoxicated in 2008 and 2012, the Victoria Advocate stated.
