'The Voice' Singer Dylan Carter Dies, Authorities Reveal Cause of Death

Dylan Carter, The Voice Season 24 contestant, died at 24 following a car crash in South Carolina.
The cause of death of The Voice’s Dylan Carter has been revealed by authorities.
The singer and co-founder of the charity organization The Local Voice died in a car crash on April 25. According to the Colleton County coroner, Carter died from blunt force injuries sustained in the accident, and his death has been ruled accidental. TMZ reported that the 24-year-old was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
What Happened
A 2026 Tesla sedan was traveling southbound on U.S. Route 21 in South Carolina at around 11 p.m. when it veered off the road, struck a pole and a fence and rolled over, authorities said.
Carter was the only person in the vehicle and later died from his injuries at a hospital, TMZ reported.
The singer's death has been ruled accidental.

he musician grew up in St. George, South Carolina, about 50 miles northwest of Charleston.
He appeared on Season 24 of The Voice in 2023, where he performed Whitney Houston’s “I Look to You” during his audition as a tribute to his mom, who died a year earlier.
The judges turned their chairs in a show of support, and he remained on the show for a couple of weeks. Carter picked Reba McEntire as his coach and told the judges he had loved music since he was a little kid.
“We will miss Dylan so much,” McEntire wrote on Facebook. “He was a brilliant, kind and talented young man who brought a huge ray of sunshine to The Voice. Rest in peace, my dear friend.”
Remembering Dylan Carter
Sonya and Crystal, from The Local Voice, shared news of his passing on Facebook. “With heavy hearts we share the passing of Dylan Carter, co-founder of The Local Voice, talented musician, and someone who meant so much to our community,” they said in a statement.
“Dylan was the heart of what we do. He believed every voice matters and lived that every day. Through his music, his kindness, and his smile, he brought people together and made everyone feel seen.”
The statement added that the musician also owned Sunny Days RV and Campground and worked as a real estate agent. “We are heartbroken, but find comfort knowing he is in heaven with his mother. We are so grateful for Dylan, for the love he gave this community, and for the impact he leaves behind. We will carry his light forward and continue this mission in his honor.”
Dylan Carter was killed when he lost control of his brand new Tesla.
Carter’s sister-in-law, Stephanie Harper, posted a picture on Facebook and wrote, “Wake us up from this nightmare. Life will never be the same without my best friend. Will miss you forever Dyl.”
Fans also paid a tribute to the singer. “Dylan was to perform at our last Music on Main tomorrow. Look at this beautiful rainbow over Moncks Corner today. He is home with his Momma now,” a Facebook user wrote.
“I don’t think I ever saw him without a smile on his face! He was truly such a light in so many lives. We will always love and miss you Dylan,” posted another.
