An audacious attempt to steal a car in a Connecticut homeowner's driveway was thwarted by the courageous homeowner himself, and the entire incident was recorded on camera, according to authorities.

Around 7:00 p.m. on April 10, the video footage shows a man running from the street to the driveway, where a four-door red Infiniti sedan is parked, the Rocky Hill Police Department stated.

The man appears to be holding a cell phone to his ear as he opens the driver-side door and gets inside the vehicle, police said.

Seconds later the homeowner can be seen running out of the garage to the car and confronting the thief. The homeowner grabs the thief and they start fighting.

As they are fighting, the homeowner can be heard saying, “Get out of here!” and “Who do you think you are?,” officials said.

As the two continued to fight, three more men in a waiting car ran up the driveway and started fighting the homeowner also, punching him and even hitting him with a shoe, according to authorities.

A woman can then be heard yelling that she is calling the police, which is when the four thieves retreat and run back to a dark-colored Mercedes. They get in and speed off.

According to authorities, police did show up to the scene and canvassed the area, but they were not able to find the vehicle or the four suspects, described as three younger in age Black males and one younger in age white/Hispanic male.

The homeowner was taken to the hospital for medical care. His injuries were not immediately known, but they were not life threatening, officials said.

The incident is still being investigated and anyone with information is being asked to contact Det. Matthew Seguin at 860-258-2047 or mseguin@rockyhillct.gov.
