Thug Charged With 17 Counts For Stray Bullet Horror

The prime suspect, Amuri Greene, faced a 17-count murder indictment for the murder of Kaori Peterson-Moore. Brooklyn DA Eric Gonzales commented after the arraignment that it was a necessary step towards providing justice to the family of the victim.

He said, “This is another step towards the fulfillment of a promise that the men who stole their child’s life will be held accountable and justice will prevail. We will continue to fight for this family, and we will continue to fight to make sure that no family will ever have to go through what this family went through.”

Unfolding Of The Horrific Crime

On April 1, Amuri Greene and his accomplice Matthew Rodriguez rode a moped and aimed to target the victim’s father and drill rapper Jamari Peterson. It was Greene who pulled the trigger, sitting on the rear of the speeding two-wheeler.

However, instead of Jamari, the bullet ended up hitting his seven-month-old daughter, Kaori. She was in her stroller when the tragedy occurred. Besides her, the bullet even injured her 2-year-old brother in the back. The two riders sped off right after the accident.

Accused pleads not guilty in murder of infant during stray bullet crime

Arraignment And Trial Of The Two Prime Suspects

Matthew rammed the moped into a car almost two blocks away, and Amuri was injured. He was sent to the hospital after the accident, where the cops recognized and arrested him for murder.

According to Brooklyn Assistant DA Jonathan Visotzky, the shooter, Amuri Greene, initially tried to dodge the arrest by giving falsified information. He attempted to identify himself phony name, but it failed before the cops. He was ultimately booked for the crime. Judge Denny Chun has ordered Greene to be held without pending a return court appearance in June.

On the other hand, Matthew Rodriguez fled to Pennsylvania, where he was arrested by U.S. marshals and sent back to Brooklyn. He was later produced in court on Tuesday. As per witnesses, Rodriguez reportedly whined for his innocence as he was dragged to the courtroom for the trial.

Shouting at the reporters, he allegedly stated, “I didn’t do it . I didn’t know it was going to happen. It’s not my fault. I promise,” he said. “I didn’t know he was going to do that. I didn’t know he was going to pull the trigger.”

Meanwhile, the family of the deceased 7-month-old infant, Kaori, organized a solemn funeral for the baby. She was laid to rest following a private service on Monday. The grieving parents buried their daughter in a Minnie Mouse-themed casket a white horse-drawn hearse. The mourners reportedly wore pink in memory of the baby.
