A California woman’s claim that she was wrongly accused of shoplifting at an Urban Outfitters store has sparked outrage online and has now prompted the retailer to issue a public apology after videos of the confrontation spread across TikTok.

The woman, who posts under the name “Jailah,” shared several clips over the weekend that showed a heated exchange between herself and a store employee. In one video, the employee claims that a security camera showed Jailah taking a skirt from the store.

In response, Urban Outfitters later contacted Jailah and directly apologized for the incident.

“What you and your friend experienced does not reflect the service or environment we strive to create for every customer, and we’re truly sorry,“ a company spokesperson wrote in a message that Jailah posted on May 18.

The retailer also asked whether she would be willing to discuss the matter further. However, Jailah did not respond to that request.

The confrontation began after an employee approached Jailah and said that the staff believed she had taken merchandise. Jailah immediately denied the accusation and demanded that the worker identify herself.

“No dude, I’m not gonna give you my name, “the employee said in the video. “Give me your name, or I am going to call the police,“ Jailah said.

“You can call whoever you would like, it’s on camera, they told me,“ the employee answered.

Jailah further argued that the worker had mistaken her clutch purse for a skirt. She later opened her bag during the confrontation to show she had money and insisted she had no reason to steal.

But the altercation quickly became more intense as both women spoke over each other. At one point, the employee attempted to explain why she believed Jailah had taken an item, but Jailah repeatedly interrupted her.

As she left the store, Jailah shouted, “Don’t worry about it, bi**h, I will go to another Urban Outfitters. “

She warned the employee that the video would be posted online and that she would be famous. “Bi**h, I got followers, don’t worry. YOU’RE GOING TO BE FAMOUS ON TIKTOK!” she yelled.

Netizens Commented Online As The Video Went Viral

The clips quickly gained traction online, with many viewers taking Jailah’s side and criticizing the store employees' actions.

Some comments praised Jailah for confronting the accusation publicly and refusing to back down.

“That code switch was 100/10! So she had every reason to crash out,” @qmooremusic commented. Another user said, “Anytime they don’t wanna give a name it’s cuz they know they’re wrong.”
