A disagreement in Petersburg, Virginia, turned into two men exchanging gunfire. One ended up dead and the other accused of murder.
Officers were called to the scene around 3 p.m. on June 6 for reports of shots fired, according to the Petersburg police.
Officers said two men opened fire and started shooting at one another, according to ABC 8 News.
Willie Noise III, 74, died at the scene. The suspect, Jimmy Methodist, 52, also suffered gunshot wounds.
Methodist was taken to the hospital for injuries that initially appeared life-threatening but were later found not to be, according to police.
“To my understanding, there was a disagreement between the person who did it, who shot him and others that were down here,” said Melanie Noise, the victim’s niece, according to ABC 8 News.
Methodist was charged with murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and discharging a firearm in the commission of a felony.
He is being held without bond until his court appearance, according to police.
