A woman was fatally shot after being approached by suspects who asked for a ride, and now two have been arrested in the case, according to police.
On Oct. 11, police in Spokane, Washington, responded to a hospital after a man dropped off a woman with a gunshot wound. The woman later died from her injuries, according to the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office.
Police did not release the victim’s name.
The man and woman were approached by another woman and a possibly Hispanic man, who asked for a ride, according to the sheriff’s office. The woman pulled out a handgun and a struggle happened. During the scuffle, the gun fired.
The two suspects, and a black man, fled from the scene, according to the sheriff’s office.
The man who dropped the woman off at the hospital was wanted in Idaho on a drug charge, according to police.
Shortly after the incident, police identified Kayla Holden as the suspect with the gun and got warrants for first-degree murder and first-degree robbery. She was arrested this week. Her bond was set at $1 million.
Jerome Lee Jr. was also charged with first-degree murder and first-degree robbery, and he was arrested shortly after the shooting. Police say more arrests are possible.
