Who Is Savannah Hernandez? TPUSA Reporter Assaulted at Protest as Three Face Federal Charges

Savanah Hernandez filed a civil lawsuit against the three people who allegedly assaulkted her during anti-ICE protests.
Turning Point USA (TPUSA) reporter Savanah Hernandez has become the focus of a federal assault case after prosecutors said she was attacked while covering an anti-ICE protest outside a federal building in Minnesota on April 11. A federal grand jury indictment unsealed on May 6 charged Christopher Ostroushko, 51, Deyanna Ostroushko, 46, and their daughter Paige Ostroushko, 20, for allegedly assaulting Hernandez.
However, this is not the first time that Hernandez has been targeted. In October 2025, she said she was confronted during the “No Kings” protest, where she alleged that individuals hurled racial comments at her.
Hernandez has been vocal about her views on cultural events in the United States, including immigration issues. She has frequently commented on the political landscape and said she has faced public hostility multiple times.
Talking about her experiences, Hernandez said, “I have been covering on-the-ground protests, riots, the illegal immigration crisis, and stories that the mainstream media refuses to touch for the last six or seven years.”
Her highlights how she interviews people, gathers their opinions, and later shares her own analysis. She also appears on podcasts to discuss current events.
Earlier in 2025, she spoke about her reporting on Antifa, a left-wing anti-fascist and anti-racist political movement. She also met with President Donald Trump to discuss related issues.
Her views on Antifa, immigration, and cultural issues are among the reasons critics say she is often confronted during protests, citing her confrontational reporting style and conservative viewpoints.
Federal prosecutors said Hernandez, 29, was lawfully reporting at the protest when demonstrators allegedly targeted her because they recognized her as a conservative journalist linked to Turning Point USA.
“Hernandez was allegedly surrounded, physically assaulted, and shoved to the ground — simply because she was identified by the defendants as a conservative journalist,” Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche said in a statement.
He said, “That is NOT ‘peaceful protest.’ These deplorable actions, as charged in the indictment, will not be tolerated in America, and this Department of Justice (DOJ) will always punish unhinged acts of political violence.”
United States Attorney Daniel N. Rosen said the attack was political violence and called it a “national scourge.”
The case quickly became a topic on the web after videos from the protest spread online.

Savanah Hernandez shares details of her newly filed lawsuit against the Ostroushko family who assaulted her.
Hernandez told The Post she had been covering the anti-ICE demonstration without problems until protesters recognized her because of her affiliation with TPUSA, the conservative group co-founded by activist Charlie Kirk.
Through her Instagram account, Hernandez said she filed a civil lawsuit against the three.
She wrote, “I have officially filed a civil lawsuit against Chris, Deyanna, and Paige Ostroushko. I promised to use every legal avenue to hold the Ostroushkos responsible and will continue to pursue justice.”
Many people commented on her post supporting her decision. One commenter wrote, “Yes!!! People will continue to behave this way if they keep getting away with it. Make examples out of them. Take any money they raise from this.”
