The 48-year-old man, Kelvin Demond Williams, from Georgia was sentenced to life in prison without parole after he murdered his wife and attempted to kill his stepson.

Williams was convicted of 13 felony counts, including malice murder, felony murder, family violence, aggravated assault, criminal attempt to commit murder and cruelty to children in the first degree. The charges were announced by the Cherokee County Office of the District Attorney on March 27.

According to prosecutors, Williams fatally shot his wife, Tenisha Williams, 48, at around 10:40 p.m. on July 13, 2025. The incident occurred at a home on Daventry Crossing in the Woodstock area of Cherokee County.

The 16-year-old son of the victim called 911 to report the shooting, telling the dispatcher that his stepfather had shot at him and his mother. He also mentioned during the call that “he was possibly loading a revolver,” the district attorney said in a press release.

The teen's four-year-old brother was sleeping in another room when the incident occurred.

Williams was taken into custody at the scene. Officers, upon arriving at the home, found Tenisha Williams dead on the kitchen floor and the murder weapon on the kitchen island, according to prosecutors.

Prosecutors said home security cameras captured the footage of Williams firing his first shot at the teen's head. He then fired twice at his wife and missed. He fired a third shot at the boy as he ran into his room. Williams then allegedly fired two more shots at his wife, killing her.

Out of frame, Tenisha Williams can be heard on the footage, “begging the defendant not to shoot,” according to the press release. After the shooting, Williams could be heard saying, “Are you dead?”

Rachel Ashe, of the District Attorney’s domestic violence unit, said Williams “systematically isolated his wife and controlled her movements." She said he monitored her movements using a Bluetooth device when she left home. On the day of the incident, Tenisha William's purchased a firearm that was used to kill her, Ashe said.

District Attorney Susan K. Treadaway said the sentence “sends a clear message that Tenisha’s life mattered, and the violence inflicted upon her was evil and inexcusable.”

“It was just one of those cases where, unfortunately, we were not able to work out a pretrial resolution,” said Angela Trethaway, William's attorney.

“While we understand the state's proposition and the judge’s position, obviously, we didn’t feel like the maximum sentence was appropriate.”

Williams plans to appeal the ruling, Treadaway said.
