Wife, Boyfriend Dump Husband’s Body, Then Point Fingers at Each Other After Arrest

A man and a woman were arrested after the woman’s husband was found dead.
A man and a woman were arrested after the woman’s husband was found dead on the side of an outskirts road in March. The pair was allegedly in a relationship. However, when caught, they tried to pin the murder on each other.
According to an arrest report obtained by KPCW, the woman told her boyfriend on March 25 that her husband was abusing her. Police said the woman claimed that her boyfriend killed her husband the very next day.

The suspects have been charged with desecration of a dead boy and obstruction of justice.

The pair was identified as Francisco Santos-Morales, 31, and Reina Chavez Sandobal, 41. The husband, whose name has not been released, was found dead on March 26 near Brown’s Canyon Road in Utah’s Summit County. According to police, he was “quickly identified,” which led to Sandobal’s arrest on April 1. Two days later, Santos-Morales was also arrested.
The pair has been charged with desecration of a dead boy and obstruction of justice. According to authorities, after being taken into custody, both pointed at each other. Sandobal blamed the murder on her boyfriend. However, when police spoke with Santos-Morales he claimed that it was Sandobal who “fatally struck” her husband.
Sandobal told police that after killing her husband, they both worked together to load his body into a Honda Civic. The pair then dumped it on the side of the rural road. She also claimed that the hammer used to kill her husband could be found at her apartment, along with a bloody blanket.
The pair has not been charged in connection with the man’s death, except for desecration of a dead body and obstruction of justice. The court appearance date has not been publicly revealed.
According to police, the autopsy revealed that the man’s cause of death was blunt force trauma to the head. His death was ruled as a homicide.
