96-Year-Old Woman Beaten To Death In Domestic Incident, Her Son Is Now Accused Of Murder

A Philadelphia man is accused of beating his elderly mother to death and now faces a murder charge, according to a report.
The victim, Bertha Johnson, was 96-year-old.
On July 18, Philadelphia police announced the arrest of Gary Johnson, 59, in connection to the case. He was charged with murder and possessing an instrument of crime, according to CBS Philadelphia.
Around 1 p.m. on July 17, police responded to Houghton Street for a case, according to the report.
When officers arrived, they found Bertha Johnson suffering from blunt force trauma, according to CBS Philadelphia. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities said they found a weapon at the scene but did not provide additional details.
The only motive given for the alleged killing was “domestic,” according to the report.
