Woman Injured in Random Long Beach Stabbing; Another Victim Attacked Hours Later

Long Beach police search for a suspect after a woman was randomly stabbed in the Bixby Knolls neighborhood on May 28.
A random, unprovoked stabbing incident has left residents of Bixby Knolls, a neighborhood in Long Beach, California, shaken.
Police are investigating the attack, which occurred around 10:36 p.m. on May 28 in the 4500 block of California Avenue. According to authorities, a woman was walking outside a condo complex where she lives when an unidentified man approached her and stabbed her multiple times before fleeing the scene.
The victim sustained stab wounds to both her upper and lower body and was transported by Long Beach Fire Department paramedics to a local hospital. Police said she is in stable condition.
The perpetrator allegedly approached the victim outside a condo complex and stabbed her in an apparently unprovoked attack.
Surveillance video from the scene shows blood staining the sidewalk outside the building. The victim can also be seen with blood on her legs and face as paramedics wheel her on a stretcher to a waiting ambulance, according to KTLA 5.
Investigators have not released information about the suspect or a possible motive. As the manhunt continues, police have warned of possible further attacks.
‘Call the Police, I’ve Been Stabbed’
Neighbors expressed unease following the incident, which occurred in an otherwise quiet residential area.
A couple who witnessed the attack told KTLA 5’s Carlos Saucedo that they initially heard a woman screaming but were unsure what had happened.
“When I heard a woman yelling, ‘Call the police, I’ve been stabbed. I live here, let me in the building,’ that’s when I was like, ‘We should call 911,’” Rafael Molinar said.
Alyssa Guhit said the victim at one point pleaded for help from a person driving a white pickup truck. According to Guhit, the driver initially left the scene but later returned and provided a statement to police.
Police have since released a surveillance image of the suspect as the investigation continues.
Second Stabbing Reported Hours Later
In a separate stabbing incident a few hours later, a man was attacked in the 3200 block of Anaheim Street at approximately 3:09 a.m. The location is about six and a half miles away from the first scene.
Police said another man stabbed the victim once in the upper body before fleeing.
According to Long Beach Watchdog, Long Beach Fire Department paramedics transported the victim to a local hospital for treatment. Authorities said he is in stable condition, and his injury is not considered life-threatening.
Police have not determined whether the two attacks are connected and are urging anyone with information to contact investigators.
