A woman was recently issued a ticket by a traffic officer for holding a mobile phone in her right hand while driving. There is only one loophole in the officer’s claim: the woman does not even have a right hand.

A TikTok user, who goes by the username @slightlyoff.balance, narrated the incident in a recent post. She said a police officer pulled her over for driving while holding a wireless device in her right hand.

“Turns out you can still get a ticket for driving with a device in your right hand even if you don’t have a right hand,” the woman said in the clip, displaying her right arm to the audience, which clearly does not have a hand.

Woman issued ticket by a traffic officer for holding a mobile phone in her right hand claims she does not have one.

The clip then shows her conversation with the officer, who issues her a citation. When the woman asks whether he mentioned on the ticket that he saw her holding her phone with her right hand, the officer replies that he did not write that, and she could take the matter to court.

The woman then asks the officer whether he claimed her right hand was occupied while driving when he initially pulled her over. The officer acknowledges this and says he does not disagree with her.

At the end of the video, the woman uses a comical approach to prove her point. She drops her phone onto her right arm, is unable to hold it, and the device ultimately falls onto her sofa. Hence, the TikTok user proves that she obviously cannot grip her phone with her right arm.

In a follow-up post, @slightlyoff.balance provided an update, revealing that she was waiting for her court hearing. Social media users have sided with the TikToker, with many questioning how the officer could issue her a ticket.

Social Media Reacts

One person commented, “Bro would rather waste taxpayer money and a cumulative few hours of citizen/public servants’ time than admit he’s wrong. Definitely a great quality to have as a servant of the community.” Another remarked, “This case will be dropped before it ever makes it to trial."

Some had a more humorous reaction to the situation, as one person wrote, “Just fyi court starts with “raise your right hand and swear the oath” might be the fastest dismissal ever.” Another social media user wrote, “Reminds me of the paraplegic in a wheelchair who was arrested for allegedly kicking in a door.”

One also appreciated the woman for the demonstration she gave at the end of her TikTok video and commented, “We didn’t need the demo at the end but it’s my favorite part.” Another wrote, “The demo just in case anyone needed it.”

As the woman awaits her court hearing, she has asked for bodycam footage from the officer. She said the footage will reveal more about their interaction, which her audience would like to see. She has not revealed whether she was born without her right hand or if it was amputated later in her life.
