Ohio Man Accused Of Phoning Courthouse, Making Bomb Threat So Girlfriend Could Skip Appearance: Police

An Ohio man was taken into custody after he allegedly phoned in a bomb threat so his girlfriend could get out of a court appearance, authorities said.
At around 12:45 p.m. on Sept. 26, the Chillicothe Municipal Courthouse received a call from a man claiming there were two bombs in the building, the Chillicothe Police Department said.
Authorities evacuated and searched the building, but no explosive devices were found.

According to police, an extensive investigation into the incident led detectives to identify Danny Hughes, 53, as a suspect in the case.
“Mr. Hugh admitted to making the call and stated that he was trying to get his girlfriend out of court that day,” law enforcement officials said in a statement.
Hughes faces charges of terroristic threats, inducing panic, and an unrelated protection order violation.
He was booked into the Ross County jail.
