A 40-year-old man has been accused of punching several women in Chicago’s Loop. Marlon Miller is facing three counts of aggravated battery and was indicted in January. Miller has a history of alleged random attacks on women dating back to 2018.

Several victims have spoken out about Miller being released back on the streets despite his criminal history.

Victims Speak Out

Sherri Bestor said she was walking to work around 8 a.m. when she was punched in the face by Miller near Millennium Station. Her glasses broke in the attack. “He yelled, and then he swung and hit me,” Bestor said.

Bestor said she had just stepped out of the station when the attack occurred. "Ahead of me, I noticed his shoes. He was wearing white shoes with no shoelaces," Bestor told CBS News. "As we passed each other, he swung and hit me in my eye. At that point, my coworker grabbed me and covered me so he would not hit me again."

“He hit me hard enough where, with my glasses on, I still swelled,” she said.

She added that she later learned other women had also been attacked. “The judicial system is not working because we are allowing these men to be back on the street.

Bestor said she now feels more alert and cautious. "I have not been back to work this week because I am a little uneasy about everything," she said. "When I saw him, I noticed he had an ankle monitor on, which worried me."

In December, Miller was ordered to remain in custody. Prosecutors also said he had previously been ordered to undergo a health evaluation. In another incident, prosecutors said Miller threw a box of chicken nuggets at a victim’s face.

Social Media Reactions

Political commentator Gunther Eagleman wrote in a May 13 post on X:

“SIX women brutally punched in the face by the same violent animal who was already wearing an ankle monitor.

Shattered glasses. Black eyes. Broken noses. Blo-dy sidewalks.

This is exactly what JB Pritzker’s soft-on-crime “justice” system delivers in Illinois, dangerous criminals released back onto the streets to terrorize innocent women while Democrats pat themselves on the back.”

Miller previously served time after punching an officer in 2022.

The viral post sparked strong reactions on social media. “I’m old enough to remember taking field trips from Wheaton to Chicago. Great memories. But no more…” wrote one user.

“Happened to my wife in Kansas City in 2021... totally unprovoked,” wrote another.

“Just a sickness that democrats don’t want to address. How many innocent people will be subjected to this type of behavior before they wake up to need a change in leadership?” another user commented.

“These women should get together and sue the city, the judge, and the mayor. The first attack he should have been in jail,” another X user wrote.
