Brother Of NBA Star Player Arrested In Connection With Deadly Crash

An NBA player's brother was involved in a traffic wreck that left one person dead, and he was arrested in connection to the crash.

According to the Denver Police Department, Coban Porter, whose brother is Denver Nuggets star Michael Porter Jr., was taken into custody following the crash, which took place a little before 2 a.m. Jan. 22. He was arrested on scene.

An arresting officer reported that Porter was slurring his words, and a strong smell of alcohol was coming from him.

Porter was charged with suspicion of vehicle homicide and reckless driving, though further charges could come as a blood test is pending.

Police received a report of a two-vehicle crash a little before 2 a.m. Jan. 22 at the intersection of South University and Buchtel Boulevard. The driver of the other vehicle was pronounced dead on scene.

Online records show that Porter posted $2,000 bond and was released.

Police did not say whether or not there were more people in Porter's vehicle.

Porter is a member of the University of Denver men's basketball program.

His brother, meanwhile, was held out of the Jan. 23 game against the Oklahoma City Thunder for "personal reasons," according to CBS News.
