One message read: He slammed her head into a toilet and was over top of her choking her.” The chat also claimed she escaped after grabbing her phone as he chased her and forced entry into her apartment.
Police were called to the apartment last weekend, but no arrests were made at the scene. The woman later contacted her father, who is also a police official. He then traveled from Long Island to Alabama and confronted DellaFranco on Monday. The meeting immediately escalated and grabbed the attention of nearby students.
DellaFranco later called police, saying the visiting father had made threats against him. A viral video showed a crowd gathered outside the apartment complex as officers arrived. Police sent DellaFranco home after the confrontation. The incident undoubtedly spread quickly across social media, adding pressure on investigators.
DellaFranco later went to the Tuscaloosa Police Department and turned himself in. He was formally charged with assault and domestic violence in the third degree. He was released after posting $500 bond, according to police.

The Theta Chi fraternity said DellaFranco is no longer a member. A spokesperson said, “Mr. DellaFranco is no longer a member of Theta Chi, and the International Fraternity is unaware of any connection between the charges against Mr. DellaFranco and any Theta Chi activity.”
The fraternity further added, “The Fraternity urges anyone with information on these allegations to cooperate with law enforcement.”
