A Texas man, Kris Harrison, who fatally shot his 23-year-old daughter over an alleged disagreement on Donald Trump has released a statement. Tragedy struck when Lucy Harrison and her boyfriend Sam Littler were visiting her family home in Texas in January 2025.
What Did Kris Harrison say?
Kris Harrison in a statement given to LiverpoolEcho said that Lucy was the light of his life. “From the moment she was born, to watching her grow into the remarkable young woman she became - from her first steps to her graduation, where I cried with pride - was the greatest privilege of my life.”
Kris Harrison also has two daughters who live with him.
"Lucy adored her younger sisters, and our home was never truly complete unless she was in it — laughing, cuddling, and filling every room with joy. During her last visit, she wrote a letter saying that Texas was her home and that she felt lucky to be part of ‘the best family in the whole wide world.’ That letter is now one of our most treasured possessions.”
Losing Lucy Has Shattered Us All: Kris Harrison
The accused further went on to say that losing Lucy has shattered them all, “I lost my best friend. My girls lost their big sister and hero, and her stepmom lost her bonus daughter who taught her how to be a mum.”
"I fully accept the consequences of my actions, and there isn’t a day I don’t feel the weight of that loss - a weight I will carry for the rest of my life, and I know that nothing I say can ease the heartbreak this tragedy has caused,” he added.
Recalling the day of the tragedy, Kris said “We had packed and brought the suitcases down, they were in the garage area. We were ready to go half an hour, 45 minutes. She was looking forward to seeing her mum and coming home. I sat on the couch with the girls and Heather was at the breakfast table."
While others sat on the couch, Mr Harrison said he and Lucy spent time alone. In his statement read to the court, he said: "Lucy and I moved to the kitchen area and watched a news segment about gun crime in the US. We began chatting generally about the segment.
"I then said that I had a gun, do you want to see it and she did. We went to the bedroom where I had the gun."
He continued to say he had never had any "formal training" and had "never fired a gun", with the dad having bought the firearm from a colleague at work. He said: "As I lifted the gun to show her I suddenly heard a loud bang. I didn't understand what happened at that moment but Lucy suddenly fell to the ground."
A grand jury in Texas - consisting of 12 people - last June found no one deserving of prosecution. It was accepted that Kris had consumed alcohol prior to the killing, but was not 'under the influence'.
