The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has reportedly recovered a video that could be the last footage of Nancy Guthrie before her disappearance. The 84-year-old mother of Today anchor Savannah Guthrie was reported missing on February 1.
It has already been revealed that Nancy Guthrie visited her daughter, Annie Guthrie, and son-in-law, Tommaso Cioni, on the evening of January 31. The elderly woman took an Uber to their house for dinner. Cioni later dropped her back at her home in Catallina Foothills around 9:50 p.m. About four hours later, the cameras around her home were disconnected, and she disappeared.
Investigators Have Obtained Nancy’s Uber Ride Footage
FBI recovers last known video of Nancy Guthrie from the night of her alleged kidnapping.
The FBI and the Pima County Sheriff’s Office have already interrogated the Uber driver who picked Guthrie up on January 31. Fresh reports reveal that investigators have also obtained a video recorded while Guthrie was in the vehicle on her way to Annie’s home.
According to investigative reporter Dave Mack, the Uber driver has turned over all the footage from his car to the investigators. Mack made the revelation on the podcast Crime Stories with Nancy Grace.
He said, “The Uber driver turned over all the video from inside the vehicle. This was looked at by the investigation.” However, the video has not led to any breakthrough in the investigation, as it does not contain any suspicious activity.
Although the footage has not been released to the public, Mack said there was nothing unusual about Guthrie’s demeanor or behavior in the video. He continued, “They found nothing of substance of anything of Nancy Guthrie in the vehicle, anything she said, her demeanor, nothing was mentioned.”
The reporter further discussed the Uber driver’s interview by police and stated it did not help the case either. Mack explained, “They interviewed the Uber driver at length. And again, there was nothing to report. It was just a regular pick up and drop off.”
Mack added, “Remember, Guthrie only took the Uber, leaving her house and going to Annie and Tommaso. But again, the Uber driver video has been given to law enforcement. They haven't released it to the public."
The Investigation Has Entered Seventh Week Without Results
The investigation into the Nancy Guthrie disappearance case has entered week seven.
Therefore, the final video of Nancy Guthrie before her disappearance does not appear to contain any clues that could help solve the mystery. The investigation has already entered its seventh week, but authorities have yet to name or arrest a suspect.
Despite numerous tips and clues, Guthrie’s whereabouts remain unknown. Another expert, Chad Ayers, recently claimed that investigators are still far from cracking the case as they have not been able to get their hands on any solid evidence.
Ayers, a former SWAT leader, said in an interview with Megyn Kelly, “I can report from a very, very reliable source that is boots on the ground there that the FBI and the Pima County Sheriff's Office have no leads. No solid suspects. And this is from someone boots on the ground that I trust. They have no solid leads.”
