A woman set her ex’s dog on fire and then filmed the act, police said.
This week, police in Gainesville, Florida, arrested Tequila Atkins, 37, in connection to the case, according to WCJB. She was homeless at the time.
On Dec. 1, Atkins was taking care of two dogs that belonged to a man she was dating, according to the report. She was upset with the man and was watching the dogs near a Walgreen’s.
Investigators said Atkins poured gasoline on the two dogs as they were tied to a tree, WCJB noted. Atkins then lit them on fire and sent a video of the scene to the owner. In the video, the dogs could be heard whimpering and trying to get away.
A witness at a nearby homeless camp poured water on the dogs to put out the fire and was off the gasoline.
Police arrested Atkins and charged her with felony animal cruelty.
