Food Delivery Partner Working Two Jobs Found Dead Before Final Order, Hours Before Son’s Birthday

Daniel Figueroa was found dead outside Loretto Hospital where he stopped for his last food delivery on February 23.
A late-night food delivery ended in tragedy after a 28-year-old Chicago man was found dead outside a local hospital, sending shockwaves through the city.
Daniel Figueroa worked two jobs to support his family and was discovered unresponsive shortly after finishing an Uber Eats delivery at Loretto Hospital at around 2:00 a.m. on February 23. His delivery van was also reported missing.
According to ABC affiliate WLS, Figueroa worked day shifts at Amazon before driving for the food delivery platform at night. He was making his final delivery around 2 a.m. when he was found outside the hospital. He was transported to another medical facility, where he remained unresponsive.
Authorities have since ruled the death a homicide, according to Law and Crime. While no suspects have been officially named, local investigators confirmed on February 24 that a person of interest is in their custody.
Local CW affiliate WGN reported that police believe Figueroa may have been carjacked by two men and a woman.

The Tragic Details
According to a doctor who was expected to receive Figueroa’s final delivery, he was approaching the hospital entrance to hand over the food when he was found lying on the ground. The doctor was able to track Figueroa’s movements on his phone in the moments leading up to his death.
Security footage from outside Loretto Hospital reportedly shows Figueroa attempting to stop three individuals from stealing his van. He was dragged for nearly half a block before the van sped away.
Figueroa’s father told WGN that the hospital delivery was his son’s final drop-off for the night and that he was preparing to head home. “He was on his way home. This was going to be his last stop,” he said.
Authorities have not released a cause of death for Figueroa. The homicide investigation is ongoing. Both Loretto Hospital and Uber said they are cooperating with law enforcement.
Girlfriend Starts GoFundMe Page
Meanwhile, Figueroa’s girlfriend, Sandra Guerrero, told WLS that the couple had plans for later that morning, including a birthday celebration for her young son.
Guerrero launched a GoFundMe page to help cover the funeral expenses, rent, utilities, and other essential bills that Figueroa previously covered. “My life changed forever when I lost my significant other, Daniel. He was the main provider for our home and the person I shared my life with,” she wrote.
Guerrero said his passing has left not only an emotional void, but also a sudden financial burden. “Every day brings new challenges as I try to find a way forward for myself and our child. The weight of these responsibilities is overwhelming, and I am doing my best to stay strong for our family. This is not easy to ask, but any support—whether through donations, prayers, or simply sharing this fundraiser—will help me stay afloat during this difficult transition,” she added.
