Nearly three weeks after Savannah Guthrie’s mother, Nancy Guthrie disappeared, authorities have yet to uncover significant evidence. A source close to the case said one of the doorbell surveillance images released by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) was captured a day earlier than the others, according to a February 23 report by Fox News Digital.

The newly released information suggests the abduction may have been carefully planned, with the perpetrator allegedly surveilling Guthrie’s Arizona home a day before the kidnapping on February 1.

However, the source declined to specify the exact date the earlier image was captured because the investigation remains ongoing.

Details From the Investigation

Sources close to the case told ABC News and NewsNation that a portion of the surveillance footage, showing the suspect at the 84-year-old’s front door without a backpack, in a still image released by the FBI, was reportedly recorded on a different day.

The FBI had previously released photos of the suspect with the backpack from the morning of the disappearance.

The source speculated that the suspect may have approached the door a day earlier but did not go through with the crime after noticing the camera, later returning to tamper with the device and cover the lens with branches. Authorities have not confirmed whether the individual is the same man seen in other footage carrying a backpack.

Pima County Sheriff's Department Releases Statement

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department issued an official statement addressing the doorbell surveillance footage in the Guthrie investigation.

“We are aware that doorbell images released earlier in the investigation depict a suspect in different stages of attire, including with and without a backpack," stated Sheriff Chris Nanos.

“There is no date or time stamp associated with these images. Therefore, any suggestion that the photographs were taken on different days is purely speculative,” he continued.

Nanos emphasized that the criminal investigation remains active and ongoing. “As with any investigation, conclusions will be guided by verifiable evidence and established facts. Speculation, without factual support, does not advance the investigative process,” he said.

Savannah Guthrie Announces $1 Million Family Reward

Savannah Guthrie issued a new statement on February 24 as the search for her missing mother continued. “It has been 24 days since our mom was taken from her bed in the dark of night. Every hour, every minute, every second, and every long night has been filled with agony as we worry for her, fear for her, and miss her. We still believe in a miracle. We believe she can come home. ‘Hope against hope,’ as my sister says,” shared Savannah.

The FBI’s $100,000 reward also remains active.

“We also know that she may be lost, or she may already be gone. She may have gone home to the Lord she loves, dancing in heaven with her mom and dad, her beloved brother, and with our daddy. We accept that possibility, but we need to know the truth. Our family is offering a reward of up to $1 million for any information leading to her recovery,” she shared.
