The trial of Letecia Stauch continues and jurors heard audio of the grieving father of Gannon Stauch confronting the child’s stepmother about her suspected role in his son’s murder, according to reports.

Audio was played and jurors could hear Al Stauch, Gannon’s father, ask defendant Letecia Stauch, “Did you kill Gannon?,” KKTV reported. Letecia replied, “I can’t believe you asked me this!”

Letecia is on trial for Gannon’s death and her defense is putting up an insanity defense, KKTV reported. Her attorney doesn’t dispute that she killed the child on Jan. 27, 2020, in El Paso County, Colorado.

Prosecutors said she stabbed Gannon 18 times and shot him once in the head, officials said.

During opening statements, defense lawyer Will Cook said, “There is no explanation for it. I don’t have one.”

However, it looks like jurors will be tasked with the questions of whether or not Letecia Stauch was sane during the act, as Front Page Detectives previously reported.

District Attorney Michael Allen told jurors, “Everything that happened to Gannon from that point forward was her decision. She carried out actions to kill Gannon, to put his body in the suitcase and hide it, to hide evidence of what she did to Gannon, told numerous stories to investigators to manipulate the course of the investigation, and finally to discard Gannon inside that suitcase off of a Florida bridge like garbage.”

Letecia often changed her story from when she first reported Gannon missing on Jan. 27, 2020, officials said. In the audio played to jurors on Tuesday, Al Stauch questioned Letecia about the changing stories also.

He said, “I just got to know. You told me to be straight up. I got to know what’s happening to my son."

Letecia told him that she didn’t know why he could think she killed Gannon. Al replied, “There’s a lot of unknowns,” and went on to say she changed her story to him “for the fourth time.”

During his testimony, Al Stauch also said Letecia previously claimed Gannon was out to get her and the child threatened her with a knife or came at her with one, officials said. However, he testified that he never saw anything like that.
