Prosecutors revealed graphic images of his wife's head injury during the trial.

The anesthesiologist admitted to hitting his wife while they were hiking in Oahu on March 24, 2025, on her birthday. However, Konig claimed he was acting in self-defense after he was attacked first when he tried to break up with his wife over her alleged affair, according to the New York Post.

Arielle Konig, 37, testified that those claims were incorrect on March 24, 2026 — exactly one year after the incident.

What Happened?

The couple was reportedly walking on a trail when Gerhardt Konig asked his wife to take a selfie along the edge of the trail. When she said she did not feel comfortable and walked away, Konig allegedly yelled at her and pushed her into the bushes.

Arielle Konig also saw the anesthesiologist retrieve two syringes from his bag during the attack. “Your family will be upset if I die. You can’t face our kids after this.” Arielle Konig recounted pleading with her husband during the attack. “And he did seem at that point to take a deep breath and calm down.”

Arielle Konig managed to run before her husband picked up a rock and bashed her head about 10 times, “while also grabbing the back of her hair and smashing her face into the ground,” according to Court TV.

She shouted, “Help! Help me!” when two witnesses ran toward her and allegedly saw her on her back with Gerhardt Konig on top of her, attacking her.

Gerhardt Konig allegedly yelled that he “was f–king done” and ordered her to “shut the f–k up,” taunting, “no one’s going to hear you out here, no one’s going to save you.”

Arielle’s Testimony

Earlier in court, Arielle Konig testified that her affair with a colleague never progressed beyond text messages that “were flirty in nature.”

She said the couple began therapy and things were looking better in February, one month before the attack.

Gerhardt Konig, who became “increasingly jealous”, banned Arielle Konig from talking to her colleague. She alleged he forced her to have s-x “every other day.”

“Gerhardt really wanted touch, physical touch, a lot of cuddling, and any refusal of that would be me withdrawing,” Arielle Konig said in court.

When Arielle Konig would say no, she said her husband would ask, “How could you do this to us?” and bring up her affair.

Gerhardt Konig pleaded not guilty to the charges as the trial continues in Honolulu.
