A Pennsylvania man has been sentenced for allegedly crashing his jeep into a 11-year-old girl. Authorities said he drank more than 10 beers before getting behind the wheel and struck the girl while she was crossing the street. The crash happened in front of the victim's father, who rushed to hold her as she took her last breath.

The 11-year-old was mowed down by a drunk-jeep driver.

Anthnoy Csizmadia, the victims father, spoke at Jeffrey Glowatski’s sentencing on February 25 in Allegheny County, according to Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.

“Lord did not decide it was Roxanne’s time to die,” Csizmadia said.

“This was a selfish, careless and a completely preventable choice,” Csizmadia said in court. He asked the court for maximum punishment allowed. “The dead cannot cry out for justice, and so it is the duty of the living to do so,” Csizmadia added.

Jeffrey Glowatski, 64, was sentenced to serve three to six months in a county jail after he pleaded guilty in the death of Roxanne Csizmadia, who died in August 2024. The Allegheny County District Attorney’s Office did not file a homicide by vehicle while driving under the influence charge. Prosecutors instead filed three counts of Driving Under the Influence (DUI) and careless driving , according to court records.

David Shrager, Glowatski’s attorney said “People who hear feel that it is insufficient, but the district attorney’s office was extremely professional, and they made their decisions based on facts and the law.” After the sentencing Shrager told ABC affiliate WTAE, “The judge sentenced based on the facts and the law, as he should.”

Glowatski admitted to hitting Roxanne just moments after he left Boots Bar in Brackenridge. Prosecutors said he drank at two bars that day before the crash.

Accused Was Consuming Alcohol For More Than Five Hours, Report Suggests

Roxanne was playing near her house in Harrison Township, when Glowatski struck her at about 7:30 p.m., according to the criminal complaint. The complaint said Glowatski began drinking at 2:45 p.m. and continued till about 7:15 p.m., when he left Boots Bar.

A witness, Jack Howard, saw the crash and approached Glowatski’s vehicle.

“I told him to turn off his vehicle and give me the keys. I didn't want him to leave,” Howard said.

Police officers who responded said Glowatski’s speech was slurred and that he refused to take a sobriety test. A later test conducted under a warrant showed a blood alcohol level of 0.153 per cent, nearly double the legal limit.

The County Common Pleas Judge Edward J. Borkowski before sentencing Glowatski said “Her father put it best. This was not an accident.”
