ICE Deports Mother of Two as Family Says Breastfeeding Baby Refuses Formula

A San Antonio woman’s Mother’s Day took a shocking turn after she was allegedly detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials and now faces possible deportation. Her 1-year-old child, who was still being breastfed, has since been switched to formula that family members claim the baby refuses to drink.

Anna Catherine Delgado, who is from Venezuela, and her husband, José Rosales, had filed a request for political asylum that was later denied, according to Univision News.

However, reports state that since 2020, Anna Catherine had continued attending her immigration verification appointments without issue. That reportedly changed on April 29, when ICE agents allegedly arrested her.

Delgado was holding her 4-year-old son, Isaiah, when nearly eight men wearing vests and carrying weapons allegedly surrounded her and took her away without explanation.

Rosales, who arrived at the scene carrying their 1-year-old daughter, Hannah, in his arms, watched as his wife was taken away. According to Rosales, authorities refused to listen to him as the incident unfolded at their residence.

Isaiah and Hannah are now asking about their mother even as the whole family is looking for answers.

“When she came out holding the child’s hand, four other trucks, a total of 7 or 8 men, with vests and weapons, surrounded her and told her that she had to go with them,” said Anna Catherine’s mother-in-law, Norma Rosales.

Norma said baby Hannah had still been breastfeeding and has struggled since being separated from her mother. “She’s like , ‘I need two more years of my milk ,’ and she doesn’t want to drink the milk we’ve gotten for her,” she said.

“Anna, my daughter-in-law, called my son and told him she was in Arizona. They told her they were going to deport her in a few days," she added. "This morning she called my son and told him they were going to deport her to Venezuela on Sunday. I can’t help my son, my grandchildren, or my daughter-in-law."

Reports state that Rosales had formally requested permission for his wife to remain in the country so she could begin the process of obtaining legal residency, but the request has allegedly not received a response.

For now, Delgado and her children may remain separated for the foreseeable future.

The incident sparked mixed reactions on social media, with some users supporting stricter immigration enforcement while others criticized the detention as harsh and insensitive.

“Great - happy Mother’s Day! Next time, don’t come here illegally and self deport if you are here,” one X user wrote under a viral post.

“I hate these f-cking people. Tearing family’s apart at gunpoint. You have to really be a piece of trash to make excuses for this. And I know there will be plenty of maga garbage that will respond here calling them criminals. I hate maga,” another user wrote.

Meanwhile, one commenter added, “These ppl are soulless! These aren’t criminals and she was attending her appointments. Ice should be defunded immediately!”

“So she gets a free pass to break the law because she has a baby? Should we do that to all people in prison?” another person questioned.

ICE has not publicly confirmed Delgado’s alleged detention or the reported deportation plans as of this writing.
