The investigation into social media influencer Gabriela Gonzalez, also known as “Gabbie,” began with encrypted messages, Bitcoin transfers and a codeword that investigators say linked an alleged murder-for-hire plot targeting musician Jack Avery.

Authorities allege that Gonzalez, 24, and her father, Francisco Gonzalez, 59, worked with a third individual to arrange Avery’s killing during an ongoing custody dispute involving Gonzalez and Avery’s 7-year-old daughter, Lavender Avery.

Francisco Gonzalez was arrested in Seminole County, Florida, on a California fugitive warrant in connection with a conspiracy to commit murder charge. Hours later, Gabbie Gonzalez was booked into a Los Angeles County jail, where she remains held on $2 million bail.

Investigators said federal agents had uncovered conversations between alleged co-conspirator Kai Cordrey and a person identified as “Fran G.” The exchanges reportedly used the codeword “bullrun,” which later became a key part of the case.

According to an arrest affidavit, Francisco Gonzalez also spoke with an undercover agent posing as a hitman. During that conversation, investigators said, he discussed bitcoin payment, the bullrun reference, and details surrounding the alleged plan. ,

Authorities traced two payments that investigators believe were connected to the alleged scheme. Prosecutors said Francisco Gonzalez transferred approximately $10,000 to Cordrey in April 2021 and made another payment of $4,000 to the same account weeks later. According to court records, the funds were later converted into Bitcoin.

Investigators said Cordrey told authorities the payments were disguised as compensation for web development services that were never completed. He also allegedly claimed that he and Francisco Gonzalez communicated through encrypted messages and phone calls.

Investigators believe the alleged killing was intended to appear as a traffic accident. According to the affidavit, Francisco Gonzalez also hired a private investigator to monitor Jack Avery and gather information that could damage his position during custody proceedings. Detectives wrote that Gonzalez became “deeply involved” in efforts to remove Avery from his daughter’s life.

Witnesses interviewed during the investigation alleged that Gabriela Gonzalez repeatedly spoke about wanting Avery dead. One witness claimed she discussed hiring a hitman as the custody battle escalated.

Authorities said the conflict between Gonzalez and Avery had grown increasingly tense over custody arrangements for Lavender. Investigators believe that the dispute became the main reason behind the alleged conspiracy.

Detectives concluded that there was probable cause to believe that Francisco Gonzalez knowingly agreed with Gabbie Gonzalez and Cordrey to have Avery killed and financially supported the effort.

Neither Gonzalez nor her father has publicly commented on the legal allegations. Information about legal representation for the pair was not immediately available.

As of now, Gabbie Gonzalez is barred from meeting her 7-year-old daughter and is hit by three criminal charges.
